the following questions.

It was necessary to look into the future to
decide the right time to do something. This could only be possible by
magicians. Hence the king was advised to go to magicians.
2. In
answer to the second question, whose advice did the people say would be important
to the king?
Some people said that the advice of his
councillors would be important. Others said the advice of the priests would be
important and some chose the doctors. And some said his soldiers were the most
necessary for giving advice.

suggestions were made in answer to the third question?
To the third question, some suggested science.
Others chose to fight, and yet some others suggested religious worship.

the wise men win the reward? If not, why not?
No, the wise men did not win the reward as the answers to the

and gave no reward.

property.
8. What
were the hermit’s answers to the three questions? Write each answer separately.
Which answer do you like most, and why?
First answer:
The right time to begin something is ‘Now’.
It is the most important time because it is the only time, we have any power to
act.
Second answer:
The most necessary person is the person you are
with at a particular moment, for no one knows what will happen in the future.
Third answer:
The most important thing is to do good to

Answer: (Speaking Task)
The wise men
answered my questions, but I was not satisfied with their answers. One day I
decided to go and meet the hermit. I changed my attire as an ordinary person
and went to meet the hermit who lived in a wood. I ordered my men to be away with the horse from
the hermit’s hut.
I reached the
hermit’s hut and he was busy digging. I greeted him and he also greeted me but
continued digging. I asked him to answer my three questions. He had listened to
me but didn’t give any reply. Since he looked old and weak, I took the spade
and started digging. I was digging until dusk and reminded him to answer my
questions. As the wise man was still quiet, I thought to move back home.
Answer : (Writing Task)
One
day I was digging in my garden. A man in ordinary clothes came to see me. I
knew it was the king. By then I was
digging to make the bed. He greeted me and I also greeted him.
Then
he asked me to answer his three questions but I didn’t give him any reply. Even
though answering those questions is quite simple for me, I decided to answer
him by showing the practical incidents.
1.
The poet says that the
squirrel ‘wore a question mark for a tail’ because its tail has appeared
just like a question mark which
we use in writing.
(Draw this squirrel
diagram in your notes)
2. Do we
usually say that an animal ‘wears’ a tail? What do we say?
(Think: Does an animal
wear a coat? Consult a dictionary if you like, and find out how ‘wear’ is used
in different ways.)
No, we usually do not say
that an animal ‘wears’ a tail. Instead, we say an animal ‘has a tail’. Here the
poet thinks that the squirrel is a human being hence the word ‘wear’ is used.
3. “He liked to tease and play”. Who is teasing whom? How?
The squirrel is teasing the poet. When the poet
turns around the tree to see the squirrel, it runs the other way to avoid him
to see.
