Book Reviews
What is a Book Review?
A book review is a summary and evaluation of a book. It explains the story or content, describes the main characters or ideas, and shares the reader’s thoughts, likes, dislikes, and the lessons learned.
Why do we write a book review?
- To understand the book better
- To share our thoughts with others
- To recommend or suggest whether others should read it
- To practice writing skills
Parts of a Book Review (for school children)
1. Title – Name of the book
2. Author – Who wrote it
3. Genre – Type of book (story, novel, biography, folk tale, etc.)
4. Summary – A short description of what the book is about (without retelling everything)
5. Main Characters – The important people/animals in the story
6. Themes/Message – The lesson or idea the book teaches
7. Language and Style – The way the author writes (simple, humorous, descriptive, etc.)
8. My Opinion – What the reader feels about the book
9. Conclusion– A final statement about why others should read it
10. Rating – Giving stars (like ★★★★☆)
